Autumn Bliss
Part of a mini series of three, Autumn Bliss celebrates the quiet beauty of camellias in bloom during the cooler months. While many plants rest, their vibrant flowers provide a valuable source of nectar for bees and other garden life, reminding us that every season has its own important role to play.
Painted using my signature layered mixed-media process and finished in oils, this piece combines expressive textures with soft, joyful colour to capture the delicate relationship between flowers and pollinators. It is a celebration of the simple moments in nature that often go unnoticed, and a reminder that even in the quieter seasons, life continues to flourish.
I especially like how the bee appears to be gently drawn towards the bloom—it creates a sense of movement and perfectly reflects the idea of the garden continuing to thrive through autumn and winter. That little detail helps tell the story behind the painting.
