A celebration of New Zealand summer, Pōhutukawa Dance captures the energy of tūī amongst vibrant pōhutukawa blooms. Inspired by the birdsong that fills the trees in the warmer months, this painting brings together colour, movement and the joy of nature.
Expressive marks and textured layers create a sense of life amongst the flowers and foliage, inviting you to pause and imagine the song and flutter of wings. The round wooden panel gives the composition a natural flow, allowing your eye to follow the movement throughout the painting.
An original mixed media painting, finished in fine artist oils on a 60 cm round wooden panel.
Currently on display at the 2026 Art Salon at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery, within Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple, 16 Stancombe Road, Flat Bush, Auckland. View until 28 November 2026, Tuesday–Sunday, 9:30 am–3 pm.
